Today I will tell you how to cook a puff pastry roll with mashed potato filling - delicious, beautiful and hearty meal, suitable for both a regular meal and a festive table.

For a delicious roll with potato filling, we need:

  • 1 block of puff pastry (1000 gr)
  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 tbsp vegetable or butter
  • half a bunch of dill
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • a little flour for rolling out the dough
  • 1 egg for brushing
  • sesame or black cumin seeds for sprinkling
Puff pastry must first be removed from freezer and unfreeze. While it thaws, prepare mashed potatoes For filling.

To do this, finely chop the onion and fry in oil. Potatoes need to be peeled, cut into small cubes and boiled in salted water. When the potatoes are cooked, mash them, add the fried onion, finely chopped dill, salt and pepper to taste.

Well, the filling is ready for us, now let's proceed to the puff pastry, which by this moment (and it will take about an hour) has already been defrosted.

Sprinkle the surface of the table or rolling board with flour and begin to roll out a layer of dough, constantly turning it in different directions until it becomes twice as large. In this case, the thickness is obtained no more than two millimeters.

Let's start making rolls. To do this, spread the filling on a rolled out layer of puff pastry, about 1 centimeter thick and roll it into a roll, carefully pinching the edges and ends. In total, you will get four large puff pastry rolls with potato filling.

We spread them on a baking sheet covered with baking paper, prick with a fork in several places - so that the rolls do not crack during baking.

Brush our stuffed rolls with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or black cumin (I used both). We bake for about half an hour at a temperature of 180-200 degrees.

How sometimes you want to pamper your loved ones with something unusual and tasty! And what if you cook a puff pastry roll? You can make it sweet, you can meat or fish. It all depends on the imagination of the hostess and the availability of food in the refrigerator. And what rolls can you try to implement?

Before preparing a puff pastry roll, you need to decide on the dough. Will it be purchased or homemade. If the second option is chosen, then you can cook puff pastry according to the following recipe:

In half a glass of water, dissolve half a small spoonful of sugar and a whole small spoonful of salt. Pour the contents into a bowl, add two cups of flour to the water. Knead the dough.

Melt half a stick of butter.

Now divide the dough into two approximately equal parts. Pour flour on the table, lay out one part of the dough and roll it out with a rolling pin, giving the layer an oval shape. Try to make the dough as thin as possible, grease it with prepared melted butter. Now put the rolling pin on the edge of the layer and roll the dough around it like a roll. Try to make it tighter. Get a rolling pin wrapped in dough. Cut the dough along the rolling pin. You will get square layers lying on top of each other. Do the same with the second piece of dough. As a result, fold all the resulting squares in a pile, put them in a plastic bag and send them to the refrigerator for an hour.

Puff pastry meatloaf with chicken

It will take 0.5 kilograms of puff pastry. Divide it into three parts, roll them into a rectangular shape.

Filling. Chop the onion and fry vegetable oil. In a separate bowl, cut 200 grams of already boiled chicken fillet, 50 grams of grated cheese, a couple of cloves of garlic, a little parsley and dill. Add a spoonful of mayonnaise, salt, pepper and mix the filling ingredients.

Spread the filling over the layers of dough, moisten the edges with water and roll up the roll. Spread mayonnaise on top of each puff pastry roll and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Place seam side down on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes.

Sweet puff pastry roll

Roll out half a kilo of puff pastry.

Filling. Cut into small cubes one apple, a couple of bananas, three peaches, a dozen cherries. Mix everything, you don't need to refuel anything. Now put the filling in the middle of the dough. Do not roll into a roll, just wrap first on one side, then on the other. Seal the edges tightly so that the roll does not turn around during baking, and the juice from the fruit does not flow out.

Put the roll on a baking sheet, grease it with a beaten egg and bake in an already preheated oven for 20 minutes.

Puff pastry roll "Autumn"

Roll out half a kilogram of puff pastry a little so that the layer becomes square.

Heat a frying pan with any oil, put a chopped onion and two chopped tomatoes into it (previously remove the skin). Add salt, spices. Simmer until sauce. Allow to cool slightly and brush the rolled out dough with this mixture, a little short of the edges.

Now fry 400 grams of any fresh mushrooms You can use frozen champignons. Salt, add some pepper. Put the mushrooms on the sauce. Chop a few cloves of garlic very finely and sprinkle the mushrooms already laid on the dough.

Add spices to 300 grams of minced meat, break the egg and mix. Put the stuffing on the mushrooms. And sprinkle 150 grams of grated hard cheese on top of it.

Carefully wrap the roll, securing the edges so that they do not unwind. Place on a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Now you can send to bake in the oven for about 40 minutes. Ready roll can be served both cold and hot.
