Pie with minced meat and puff pastry recipe. How to make puff pastry pie with minced meat: simple and complex recipes

Friends, today I will share with you one very interesting recipe cake in the form of a snail. For the first time I tried such a pie in Tunisia. It was stuffed with cheese and herbs. The first thing that attracted me was the shape of the pie. Its filling can be anything really. And I propose to prepare hearty option, with meat. The meat will be dietary - minced turkey. The dough in the pie is traditionally puff, and we will decorate it with white and black sesame seeds.

Ingredients:

500 g of ready-made puff pastry (you can take any - yeast or without)

600 gr ground turkey

1 large onion

a few sprigs of fresh thyme

salt and black ground pepper taste

1/2 egg for brushing the pie

a handful of black and white sesame seeds

vegetable oil for frying the filling

Pie preparation:

  1. Finely chop the onion and fry in vegetable oil for 2 minutes until softened.

  2. Add the minced meat to the onion, mash it with a spatula and fry over medium heat for about 10 minutes, until the minced meat seizes.

  3. At the end, salt, pepper to taste, add thyme leaves without stems and mix the filling. By the way, thyme goes well with poultry meat, which is why I use it in many of my recipes. Moreover, it can be grown very easily at home in a pot 😉

  4. Roll out the dough into a long layer about 12-13 cm wide. I have store-bought dough, and I was lucky that it already comes in the form of a long layer, I just rolled it out a little wide.

  5. Put the minced meat filling in the middle of the strip of dough along its entire length.

  6. Roll the dough together with the filling into a roll, as if making cinnamon rolls, according to the same principle. Pinch the edge well so that nothing falls apart during baking.

  7. And finally, roll the snail out of the resulting “sausage”.

  8. Preheat the oven to 180 C. Cover the baking sheet with baking paper and put our snail on it, only upside down so that the “seam” remains below. Brush the pie with beaten egg.

  9. Sprinkle with sesame seed mixture. If you do not have black sesame seeds, you can only get by with white ones, it's not scary.
  10. Bake the cake for 20 minutes at 180C.
  11. When the cake is ready, turn off the oven and open the door a little, let the cake sit there for a while until the oven cools completely. Admire how ruddy and plump handsome he is!
  12. When the cake has cooled down a bit, you can cut it and serve it on the table. Bon appetit, Friends!

Recipe guide and helpful tips:

  • When defrosting puff pastry, it is enough to take it out of the freezer and leave it for half an hour on the working surface of the table, after which you can start rolling it out. This time is enough for the layers of dough to become soft and obedient for rolling;
  • Roll out puff pastry from the center to the edges, then the sequence of layers will not be disturbed, and the cake will turn out to be lush and airy;
  • When sending a baking sheet to the oven, it is worth considering that it must be well heated, approximately 200-220 C, then the cake will quickly rise and brown, and all layers of the dough will be baked, become crispy;
  • The surface of the cake can be smeared with egg yolk, milk, or strong and sweet tea with bergamot, then the surface will become glossy and shiny, fried and looks appetizing.

In cooking delicious and healthy food, there is always room for creativity and fantasy when simple and regular recipe serves only as a basis, and you can supplement it as your imagination and your own taste tell you.

To prepare a pie in the oven, ready-made puff yeast-free dough is used, which must be pre-thawed. While the dough “reaches” the desired condition, start preparing the ingredients for the filling. Rinse the potato tubers under cool running water and then peel them. half onion peel off the husk (a small onion can be used whole, depending on its size). Rinse fresh dill and pat dry with paper towels.

Peeled potato tubers for the filling of the pie cut into shape small cubes. Transfer the potato slices to a bowl.

chop the onion, fresh dill grind. Add the ingredients to the potato cubes in a bowl.

Transfer the thawed minced meat to a bowl with chopped vegetables. Used in this recipe mixed minced meat from pork and beef. These two types of meat are passed through a meat grinder in equal amounts. Season the filling with salt to taste, then mix thoroughly.

The dough has defrosted. Lay out one layer on the work surface of the table, sprinkled with flour and roll it out. The resulting sheet will serve as the base of the pie, it is laid out on parchment or immediately on a greased baking sheet.

Spread the potato, minced meat and onion filling evenly over the base of the pie.

Similarly, roll out another layer of yeast-free puff pastry and cover the filling with it. Fasten the edges well (snap). Make a small hole in the center to let air out.

Separate the egg into yolk and white. To grease the cake, only the yolk is needed. Add some to it warm water, whip up. Brush the surface of the cake with the mixture.

Place the pie in the oven for baking. It must be preheated to 180 degrees. Bake a pie with minced meat and puff pastry potatoes in the oven for about 35-40 minutes. The readiness of the dough can be checked with a toothpick by piercing the crust of the pie. If the toothpick remains dry, then the cake is ready, but if pieces of dough stick to it, you still need to wait.

Cool the finished puff pie with minced meat and potatoes, cut into portions and serve! Bon appetit!

Cooking Tips

In cooking, there is always room for free creativity, when the recipe is just a hint and the basis for imagination. Modifying and supplementing it, you can get a completely new and unique dish.

  • Try replacing chopped cubes with cooked ones. mashed potatoes and the cake will already acquire new shades of taste. By the way, you can use yesterday's puree - it is inconvenient to warm it up, but it will be quite appropriate in a pie, especially if you add it with onion frying.
  • By changing the meat for minced meat, you can also get different tastes. Minced poultry will turn out more tender and dietary. You can make minced meat from one type of meat - pork, beef or lamb, or you can make a pie from mixed minced meat. To make the minced meat filling more juicy, you can add more onions to it. This will be especially appropriate when using minced pork or lamb.
  • If you grease the cake with egg yolk, after cooking it will delight you with a beautiful crispy golden crust. To make it softer, the yolk can be mixed with vegetable oil or water.

In my opinion, this is one of the most delicious meat pies. I tried different recipes, but this one layer cake with minced meat, not only the most delicious, but also light. The only problem is the chance to overeat. The pie is hearty, but it is very difficult to stop. It makes me want to reach for one more piece.

For the filling, I recommend using two types of meat - lamb and beef. Be sure to include plenty of onions. Then you will get a real oriental layer cake similar in taste to samsa. The recipe also calls for herbs. It doesn't matter if you put spinach, parsley or dill - in any case it will be juicy and tasty.

For the filling, cut the meat into small cubes, add the diced onion and chopped greens. Pepper and salt. Put 4 tbsp. soy sauce or marinade sauce. Stir. With such a filling, you will get a pie similar to Tatar, with chopped minced meat. It will be especially juicy!

Divide the dough into 2 parts. Roll out one piece and place on a baking sheet. I always use sheets of cooking paper, they make it easier to transfer the cake to a dish.

Lay out the filling in an even layer, retreating from the edges by 5 centimeters.

Close the pie with the second rolled out sheet of dough. Blind the edges by lifting the edge of the bottom cake and bending it over the top.

Bake the cake in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees.

This is how juicy the filling of a puff pie with chopped minced meat will be.

This cake is the same, but here I scrolled the filling through a meat grinder and added chopped potatoes. The cake turned out very tender, very satisfying and very tasty. You choose for yourself what kind of minced meat to put - chopped or ground.

Bon appetit!
