Color Easter eggs in a beautiful and original way. How to decorate eggs for Easter and serve them beautifully

Dyeing eggs for Easter is an integral ritual of one of the main Christian holidays, symbolizing the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This holiday is beautiful and solemn, with established centuries-old traditions. In addition to its deep religious meaning, Easter is associated with the purification of the soul and home, with delicious Easter cakes and Easter dishes.

The egg is rightfully considered a symbol of the origin of life, and a painted Easter egg means the resurrection from the dead and eternal life. It turns out that painted eggs were found in Egyptian and Sumerian tombs, which were built back in the 3rd millennium BC. e. It’s hard to imagine how many years such a tradition has existed.

Orthodox Christians dye eggs during Holy Week on Maundy Thursday or Red Saturday. In 2019, these are April 26 and 28, respectively. Painted eggs are blessed in church during a festive service, and the first meal after Lent begins with eggs.

Painting eggs for Easter with your own hands has become not only a family activity, but also a kind of competition to see whose colors are the most beautiful. And there are a great many ways to paint eggs. You can, of course, paint eggs for Easter with paints, but these are still harmful chemicals, and food paints are not always on sale. I offer you natural ways to color eggs at home.

Dyeing eggs with onion peels is a traditional method.

This is my favorite and most reliable way to color eggs. With this method, the eggs always turn out to be a beautiful color. I start preparing onion peels several months before Easter - I collect them in a separate bag. In order for the color of the eggs to be rich, there must be a lot of onion peels.

Pour the onion skins into the pan and pour cold water. Place on the stove and bring to a boil.

Use a worse pan because the husks will stain the sides of the pan so that it will be difficult to clean.

Pour the eggs in a separate bowl with cold water and leave for 10 minutes.

At this time, the water with onion skins boils; turn down the heat so that the eggs do not crack. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the pan and carefully lower the eggs one at a time. Cook over low heat for 15 minutes.

If you want a more intense color, remove the pan from the heat and leave the eggs in this solution for a while.

After removing from the pan, let the eggs cool slightly and rub with sunflower oil using a paper napkin to make them shine.

Now the eggs are “sparkling” with paint, you can put them in a basket and take them to church to be blessed. I try to bless eggs every Easter, and then treat them to my family, friends and neighbors.

How to paint eggs in onion skins with a pattern

If in the first recipe you could use any eggs - white or brown, then when painting with onion skins with a pattern, white eggs are suitable.

To decorate the eggs, we prepare plant leaves in advance. Before Easter there are not always fresh leaves, because this holiday can also take place in March, when nature is still sleeping. Therefore, you can use fresh herbs from the store - parsley, basil, dill, mint or lemon balm.

Birch leaves look beautiful. You can place several branches in a vase with water in advance, and when the leaves bloom, use a few to decorate Easter eggs.

Lace and woolen threads are also suitable for coloring patterned eggs.

You will also need to prepare clean old stockings, tights or gauze in advance. You will also need threads.

So, let's paint the eggs.

Pour cold water over the onion skins and bring to a boil.

We wash the eggs, dry them with a paper towel and wipe each egg with a cloth and vinegar.

Place a leaf or other decor on the egg, press it tightly and wrap the egg in a piece of stocking fabric or gauze.

To make the leaf stick more tightly to the egg, you can moisten it a little with water.

We tie the nylon or gauze fabric with thread.

You can paint eggs beautifully and originally with lace and onion skins. It's simple - cut the lace to the required length and wrap it around the egg. We tie the ends with thread and cut off all excess.

You can also decorate the egg with woolen threads. Just randomly wrap the egg with thread.

To prevent the eggs from cracking, add 1 tbsp to the broth. l. salt. Carefully lower the eggs into the broth with onion skins and cook for 10-15 minutes. Then carefully place the eggs in cold water.

Remove the decor from the cooled eggs and wipe the eggs with vegetable oil.

Marble eggs with greenery

But this method is my favorite. The eggs turn out unusually beautiful, with marble stains. I’ll share one secret of this method - the more we chop the onion peel, the more beautiful the pattern will be. You can even try grinding the husks in a coffee grinder. I like to chop the husks using scissors.

To ensure that the peels stick well to the eggs, wet them with water, then roll each egg in the onion peels. Place a little more husk in a piece of gauze or stocking, place the egg inside and wrap it around it. Tie the ends with thread. Place it in a saucepan and add 1 tsp. salt. About 5 minutes after boiling, pour in 2 tsp. greens and cook for another 5 minutes. Then rinse the eggs with cold water and remove the gauze and remove the husks. Rub the eggs with sunflower oil.

Beautiful marble eggs ready!

How to color eggs with onion skins and rice

Another simple one great option dyeing eggs using natural methods. The grains of rice stick to the eggs and the result is a pattern in the form of droplets. This method is very simple, try it. In addition to rice, you can also use peas.

Pour grains of rice or peas into a stocking, place an egg there, and use your fingers to distribute the grain around the entire circumference of the egg. We tie the fabric and lower the eggs into the prepared broth with onion peels. Cook for 10 minutes, wash the eggs under running cold water and remove them from stockings or gauze and grains. After the eggs have cooled slightly, rub them with vegetable oil.

Coloring eggs with natural dyes

I have already written that I am fundamentally against chemicals and dyeing eggs with paints. Yes, it’s beautiful and brighter, but health is more important. Moreover, there is a good replacement in the form of natural and harmless dyes made from natural ingredients. Of course, these are all kinds of juices - beet juice, blueberry juice, red cabbage juice, spinach juice and others. From cranberry, raspberry and beet juice you can get pink, from blueberry, pomegranate or black currant juice you can get purple, and if you want to get blue or light blue, use red cabbage juice. Turmeric gives you a rich yellow color, while black tea or coffee will give you brown shades. By boiling the bark and branches of the cherry, you will get reddish-crimson eggs. I want to warn you that bright colors are not always obtained this way. To get a brighter color, after boiling the eggs, you need to keep them in the broth for at least another 4 hours, or better yet, leave them overnight.

Coloring eggs with beets

If you want to get pink eggs, this method of coloring is suitable. beet juice. Coloring eggs naturally requires a little more fiddling than with conventional paints, but if you care about your health, then this work will pay off handsomely.

The beets need to be prepared in such a way that more juice is obtained. To do this, grate the beets, add water and cook for 5-7 minutes. You can cook eggs in the same broth. Then we rub the beets through a strainer, we get rich burgundy juice. Pour this juice into the eggs in a separate bowl, add 1 tbsp. l. vinegar and leave for 4-8 hours.

Coloring eggs with red cabbage juice

Red cabbage will give the eggs a blue color.

The painting method is similar to the previous one. Cut the cabbage into large pieces, add water, cook for 5-7 minutes along with the eggs, strain the hot broth into a separate bowl. Add 1 tbsp there. l. vinegar and keep the eggs in this broth for 4-8 hours.

How to dye eggs with turmeric

Turmeric produces perhaps the most intense color of all natural dyes. The eggs turn out beautiful, bright yellow.

For this coloring, pour a bag of turmeric (15 g) into boiling water, stir and add 1 tsp. salt. Place eggs in this solution and cook for about 10 minutes. To make the paint brighter, leave the eggs in this solution for several hours. For shine, rub with sunflower oil.

Coloring eggs with coffee or tea

I want to warn you right away that using coffee or tea produces a not very rich, but delicate beige color of eggs.

Can be used both natural and instant coffee or black tea. For coloring, prepare a solution - add 4-5 tbsp to boiling water. l. coffee per 0.5 liters of water. If you use tea, you will also need 4-5 tbsp. l. black tea for brewing. Cook for 5 minutes, add 1 tsp. salt and lower the eggs. Cook for another 7 minutes. And as always for natural dyes, it is advisable to keep it in the solution longer, at least 5 hours.

How to color eggs with blueberry juice

The method of coloring blueberries is similar to the previous ones. The eggs come out a beautiful purple color.

For 1 liter of water you will need 2.5-3 cups of frozen blueberries. The berries need to be cooked a little (5 minutes), add 1 tsp. salt and lower the eggs. After cooking, you can rub the blueberries through a strainer to get pure juice without berries. But I don’t bother, I just boil eggs with berries. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, pour in 1 tbsp. l. vinegar to fix the color. You can leave the eggs in the pan overnight.

Decoupage Easter eggs

I learned about this method of decorating eggs quite recently, a couple of years ago, and it has become my favorite. After all, there are now a lot of napkins with a variety of beautiful designs in our stores, you need to choose the brightest ones, and then you will get very beautiful and original eggs.

  1. Napkins for decoupage should be chosen with a small pattern so that they fit on the egg.
  2. We select white eggs for decoupage.
  3. It is better to choose napkins on a white background, then you won’t have to carefully cut out the design with scissors.
  4. Most good way gluing napkins - using egg white.

To get beautiful and intact Easter eggs, you need to remember 7 basic rules:

  1. Before boiling eggs, you need to remove them from the refrigerator a few hours before. Eggs shouldn't be cold!
  2. You need to cook the eggs over low heat, avoiding cracking.
  3. To prevent the eggs from bursting, you need to add 1 tbsp to the water with the eggs. l. salt.
  4. To fix the pigment in the paint, pour 1 tsp into the coloring solution. vinegar, the paint will become brighter.
  5. If you want a more saturated color when coloring eggs with natural dyes, leave the eggs in the broth overnight.
  6. Gently dry the colored eggs with a paper towel.

We are done with the preparation, now we can safely move on to the main painting. We invite you to use our simple ideas.

Classic way

Involves painting eggs in onion skins. This is the method our ancestors used.

1. We wash the husks (the more the better) under water and place them in a deep saucepan.

2. Add water to it and cook for about 40 minutes.

3. Turn off the heat and let the broth brew for a couple of hours.

4. Strain through a colander, removing all the husks.

5. Boil the prepared eggs. The cooking time depends on the color you want to get.

This process gives us solid-colored eggs; if you want to give them color imprints, you need to use nylon fabric and dried leaves.

Or apply the desired design with electrical tape and boil it in the husk. Get rid of the electrical tape (adhesive tape). The drawing is ready.

Decoupage Easter eggs

This method is for those who don’t want to bother with stickers and are used to doing everything themselves. We will need napkins with a pattern, boiled eggs and gelatin.

1. Dilute gelatin as indicated on the package.

2. Cut out the designs with thin scissors.

3. Apply the prepared design to the egg and use a brush to apply gelatin glue to the surface of the napkin. We start gluing from the center and move the brush to the edges.

Before serving, eggs must be dried for 2 hours.

Gradient fill

The whole point is that each egg is a tone darker than the previous one. Prepare dyes and eggs.

1. We dilute food coloring according to the instructions.

2. Lower the first egg for 20 seconds.

3. With the remaining eggs, we follow the previous method, only we increase the time of coloring each egg by 20 seconds (the first 20, the second 40, the third 60, etc.).

As a result, you should end up with a whole series of eggs that smoothly transition from light to rich shades.

If you have a negative attitude towards store-bought dyes, then use natural dyes.

Engraving

This unusual method will allow you to draw whatever you want. We stock up on colored eggs, a cutter, a pencil and patience.

1. The eggs must be thoroughly dried after painting.

2. Select the drawing you are interested in and transfer it to the shell with a pencil.

3. Using a cutter, carefully remove the paint from the shell, making sure that the egg does not break.

The process is long and laborious, but it's worth it.

Space Easter eggs

Do you love space? Then this method is definitely for you. We will need acrylic paints, a brush, a dish sponge, a toothbrush, white paint and water.

1. Cover the eggs with black paint in two layers.

2. Using a brush, apply various stains of dark blue and black-violet paints to the shell.

3. Take a sponge and dip it in dark colors, apply them to the egg with a sharp movement, then paint with bright ones.

4. We dilute white paint with water, apply it to a toothbrush and spray it over the egg, giving the effect of stars.

Attention!

After each layer, you need to dry the egg well.

Fabric pattern

Most easy way. We select suitable colored silk and white cotton fabrics, threads, a needle, water, vinegar and white raw eggs.

1. Wrap the egg in a colored cloth, the front side should be from the inside.

2. To ensure that the drawing is not blurry, we sew it tightly together.

3. Wrap it in white fabric and stitch it again.

4. Mix water and vinegar (3 tbsp) in a saucepan, add eggs, cook for about 10-15 minutes after the water boils.

5. Cool the eggs in a natural way without resorting to cold water.

A beautiful and bright drawing is guaranteed to you.

You've probably heard about these Easter eggs? And we will tell you how to make them, only for this you will need: brilliant green and onion peels.

1. So, prepare the onion solution as written above.

2. Wrap raw eggs in onion peels and chop them first. We fix it with nylon fabric.

3. Cook. Halfway through the completed stage, add a spoonful of brilliant green to the water and cook until tender.

A “marbled” egg will acquire a truly beautiful color if it is coated with vegetable oil.

Painting with rice

In fact, the option is very unusual. We can use rice, plastic cups and food coloring to give us an interesting texture and pattern.

Fill 1. 1/3 cup with rice.

2. Add 25-30 drops of dyes to it (if the paint is dry, then dilute it in a small amount of water).

3. Mix the contents of the glass thoroughly, evenly coloring the rice grains.

4. Place the boiled egg into the rice and gently shake several times. Leave it like this for five minutes.

In this way, you can paint one egg several times, while changing the color of the paint.

Colorful palette

This method received this name for a reason. And you will find out why during the painting process. So, we will need: knitting threads (or floss) of different colors, vinegar and raw eggs.

1. We completely wrap each egg with colored threads.

2. Cook in water with vinegar added.

3. Transfer to a bowl and leave until completely cool.

4. Remove the threads.

Beautiful, isn't it? What bright and original eggs we got.

Decorate with wax crayons

The name speaks for itself, we will need: wax pencils or crayons and eggs.

1. Boil the eggs.

2. We apply bright designs to the uncooled shell.

3. Cool.

During drawing, the wax will begin to melt, thereby giving the egg an original design.

Culinary ideas

This option is the cheapest, because cereals are available in every home. And we will use: small grains (millet, egg, etc.) and wax candles.

1. Apply a design with hot wax to the finished eggs.

2. Quickly sprinkle this area with cereal.

3. Lubricate with refined oil.

Eggs can be used either natural color or painted.

As the ancient legend says, the block with which the tomb of Jesus Christ was closed was shaped like an egg. Behind this stone was hidden a Saint whose life is eternal. In the same way, new life is hidden behind the shell of an egg...

There are several options for the tradition of decorating eggs for Easter. According to one of them, the Myrrh-Bearer Mary Magdalene, when she came to preach to the Roman Emperor, brought him an egg. She was an ardent supporter of Christ and carried with her the story of his Resurrection. At this gift, the emperor grinned: “Life is as eternal as this egg is red and not white.” After these words, according to legend, the egg turned red right in the hands of the sovereign.

Among the ancient Romans, the egg was considered a symbol of new life and the Sun. Men always ate a baked egg for breakfast so that the day would be blessed with good luck and success.

Another assumption is the birth of Emperor Aurelius. The story goes that a chicken belonging to his parents, immediately after the birth of the future ruler, laid a rather interesting egg. Its color was bright, speckled with red. Witnesses interpreted this as a favorable sign of fate. After this incident, the inhabitants of Ancient Rome developed a tradition of exchanging colored eggs as gifts.

There is also an opinion that decorating eggs was practiced long before the birth of Jesus Christ. With the onset of Spring, people celebrated the beginning of warm weather and painted eggs as a symbol of the sun and eternal life. Then it was believed that the whole world, all living things came from an egg. Since Easter comes exactly at the beginning of spring, this tradition is still preserved.

Then prepare the coloring solution. You can use dyes that are sold in stores. Instructions, as a rule, are always indicated on the packaging. Place the eggs into the cooled paint for a few minutes. Then take them out and unwrap the gauze.

How to paint eggs marbled. Option 2

The second method involves using food coloring, vinegar and vegetable oil. Boil eggs in salted water until the yolk is hard. Only after cooking should you start painting. Dilute the dye in a bowl of water according to the instructions on the package. The dishes must be wide so that the egg can be placed and moved freely in it.

Drop a few drops of vegetable oil into the container with the coloring solution so that oil bubbles form on the surface. They are what determine the presence of the marble pattern. Place the egg in a container and twist it so that it “collects” beautiful patterns from the oil drops. Now you need to wipe it with a napkin and the beauty is ready!

Decoupage with napkins

Decoupage is a great way to decorate various things and gifts without spending a lot of time on it. To decoupage Easter eggs with napkins, you only need boiled eggs, beautiful paper napkins, scissors, a brush and paste.

From napkins, cut out the patterns drawn on it along the contour. You can also cut a piece around it, this is called the patchwork method. Now prepare the paste. To do this, you need to dilute 2 tbsp. water in 50 milliliters of water. Then heat the solution in the microwave for about 15 seconds, periodically opening the oven and stirring the paste.

Place pieces of napkins on the eggs and coat the top with paste. Leave them on a flat surface for half an hour to allow the glue to dry.

How to paint eggs with nail polish

For this you will need:

  1. Several bottles of nail polish in different colors;
  2. Bowl of water;
  3. Toothpicks;
  4. Nail polish remover;
  5. And, of course, eggs.

Boil eggs in boiling water in salted water. Drop nail polish of several colors at once into a separate bowl of water. Use a toothpick or other thin object to combine all the colors, making streaks on them.

Immerse the egg in water with varnish and turn it so that the paint covers the entire surface of the shell.

Place the painted eggs on a flat surface and wait for the varnish to dry completely. Nail polish remover will help you get rid of nail polish marks on your hands.

Rub the dyes with vegetable oil for a bright shine.

Beautiful stickers for eggs

On the eve of Easter, store shelves are filled with an assortment of stickers for Easter eggs. Their variety is so great that it is sometimes difficult to make a choice. These stickers are very easy to use. Even kids can cope with this, of course, under the supervision of adults. It is better to choose eggs of the same size, then boil them until tender. Before this, you can paint them with any dye, but this is not necessary.

Stickers need to be cut along the line. Then each of them must be carefully placed on the eggs. Separately, put a saucepan of water on the fire until it is hot. Dip each egg in turn into water. You can use a deep ladle for this. The edges of the sticker immediately curl up from the boiling water, taking the shape of an egg.

The simplest option is regular egg stickers. Just color the eggs as usual and decorate them with a cute sticker. They are also sold in supermarkets.

Dyeing eggs has its own history. Initially, our believing ancestors painted them red - the color of the blood of Jesus Christ. Over time, more and more new colors began to be used. 2. To prevent the fabric from slipping, sew the egg along the contour. Wrap it over the colored cotton fabric, securing it at the blunt end.
  3. Pour water into the pan, add vinegar (3 tbsp). Place the eggs wrapped in cloth into the pan and cook for 10-12 minutes after boiling.
  4. Pour cold water over the prepared eggs. When they are completely cool, carefully remove the cloth. A thin pattern will remain on the egg, just like on fabric.
23:939

24:1444 24:1454

Eighth method: imagination in patterns using scrap materials

Using the methods for coloring eggs described above (for example, using onion skins), you can.

  • a leaf-shaped design can be obtained by attaching a parsley leaf to the egg before painting and securing it with gauze or stocking;
  • To ensure that straight lines cross the egg, you can glue masking tape to its shell or pull a money elastic band over it;
  • symbols or letters XB can be glued to the egg before painting using adhesive tape or masking tape. After painting, they should be carefully removed;
  • You can get “checkered” eggs if you boil them wrapped in fishnet stockings or a net from fruits or vegetables.

Therefore, I believe that they should be bright, unusual and fun! And in villages and villages, you can find such a tradition - giving this symbol to everyone, including strangers.

When presenting the dye, they say “Christ is risen!” In response to this, you can hear “In truth he is risen!” and get the same beautiful colored egg.

Why do they paint eggs for Easter, what is the tradition and where did it come from?

Not every person knows the true reason for painting Easter eggs and their presence on the holiday table. Some people don’t think about it at all, but take it for granted.

Meanwhile, there is a legend about Emperor Tiberius and Mary Magdalene.

In the Roman Empire, people visiting the emperor were required to bring something as a gift. Wealthy people gave gold, while the rest chose from what they had on the farm. Mary Magdalene was able to give an ordinary gift egg. She didn't have anything else.

With her she brought the news of the resurrection of Christ. Handing her gift to the emperor, she exclaimed, “Christ is risen!” Tiberius just laughed in response and said that he would believe it if only the egg turned red. At the same moment, the egg changed color to red. It was the greatest miracle. The greatly surprised emperor exclaimed, “Truly risen!”

It was from this moment that the tradition of coloring eggs for the bright holiday began - Easter. The most important shade is always red. But the rest of the tones of the color palette came later.

There are also differences in the type of coloring:

  • Pysanky are amazingly beautiful and skillfully painted eggs. To create them, the following are used: stencils with geometric designs, ornaments and patterns, as well as various leaves or flowers.

  • Krashenki are eggs colored with natural liquids made from the juice of vegetables, berries, herbs or food coloring.

  • Drapankas are eggs decorated with a scratched pattern. Typically, eggs with brown shells are used for this type. It is more durable than white. The pattern is created with an awl, knife, thick needle or scissors. The eggs are pre-colored.

Don’t forget that egg painting begins on Maundy Thursday. Easter cakes are baked in it and the house is cleaned.

There is a tradition: the very first egg is divided among all family members. A piece for each. After that, everyone eats their share. According to legend, this custom makes the family stronger and preserves love in it.

We will need:

Be careful as raw eggs are very easy to break.

We do this with all the eggs.

Place eggs in a saucepan with onion skins. Fill with cold water. Exactly up to half the pan.

Cook for about three minutes. To get a brighter color, you can use a little more.

After this, we take out the dyes, cool them, and remove the gauze and leaves.

You can experiment and mix two different colors.

We paint paints with iodine and brilliant green with our own hands

It is best to color already boiled eggs in this way. We just briefly place them in a solution of iodine or brilliant green.

But it’s worth considering that this is a labor-intensive and rather dirty process, but in the end you get marbled eggs like these. If you are interested in learning how to make such beauty, read step by step description below.

But still, if you are not afraid to get dirty. You can try making dyes this way:

We will need:

  • white eggs;
  • brilliant green - 1 bottle;
  • onion peel;
  • small gauze squares;
  • sunflower oil.

Stages of work:

  1. We cut the husk into pieces of different sizes.
  2. Soak the egg in water and dip it in the peel.
  3. We wet it in a gauze square and tie it with thread.
  4. Place the eggs in a saucepan with water.
  5. Add a little salt to prevent the shell from cracking during cooking.
  6. Pour the green stuff into the pan. After boiling, cook for another 10 minutes.
  7. Then remove the gauze and rinse under cold water.

Despite all the variety of methods, it is better not to eat eggs painted with brilliant green, iodine and potassium permanganate, but to use them for decoration, because these are still medical preparations. Natural dyes will be healthier: onion peels, juices of vegetables and berries, turmeric or food, but of course each housewife decides on her own.

And I wish you a warm spring and a Happy Easter!
