Now we begin to assemble the salad in layers. The first layer will be potatoes. Take half the potatoes, peel them and grate them (I have 2 tubers). Rub directly over the salad bowl.

By the way, you need to immediately form the shape of the salad. Some make it an elongated oval (in the shape of a fish), others make it into squares or a circle. It doesn’t matter, do whatever your heart desires.

Now pour mayonnaise generously on top and use a spoon, carefully spreading evenly. But just do not press down so that the salad turns out airy.

Now we cut the herring into medium-sized cubes. You don't need to cut it finely to taste the herring. Place the herring on top of the potatoes and pour mayonnaise over them. But we don’t smear it. You can pour the mayonnaise over the mesh, or just whatever you like.

Now cut the onion into cubes and lay it out in a third layer. Then sprinkle with lemon juice or vinegar. Top with a little mayonnaise and spread in a thin layer.

If the onion is bitter, you can scald it with boiling water and squeeze out excess moisture.

Place carrots in the fourth layer. Using a coarse grater, grate it directly onto the salad. Top with mayonnaise and spread without pressing.

Place the remaining potatoes in the next layer. Also grate on a coarse grater directly on top. Salt to taste (about 2 pinches). Pour mayonnaise and spread without pressing.

Well, put the beets in the last layer, grating them on a coarse grater. Top with mayonnaise and spread with a spoon without pressing.

Now you need to decorate the salad on top. We have a boiled egg. It can be grated on top.

In general, at this stage you need to turn on your imagination. Herring salad under a fur coat can be decorated in any way you like: with mayonnaise mesh, bell pepper, vegetable figures, sprinkle with herbs…. Whatever you want, the main thing is that it looks festive.

So that the layers are properly saturated with the sauce. You need to put the salad in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours. After this, you can put it on the festive (traditionally New Year's) table.

We will need:

  1. Herring - 1 piece;
  2. Potatoes - 4 pcs;
  3. Eggs - 4 pcs;
  4. Carrots - 3 pcs;
  5. Beets - 1 piece large;
  6. Apple - 1 piece;
  7. Pitted olives - 100 g;
  8. Peeled pomegranate - 1/2 pcs medium;
  9. Green onions - 1 bunch;
  10. Mayonnaise.

We won’t describe it in great detail, everything is the same as in the classic recipe. We start with vegetables and boil them. We also boil the eggs immediately. When ready, remove, cool and peel.

Preparing the ingredients. We clean the herring, leave only the boneless fillets, and cut the middles into pieces.

Step 3.

Finely chop the onion. Cut the olives into slices. Peel the apple and grate it on a coarse grater. We also grate the vegetables on a coarse grater. All we need from eggs is the yolk. It can be grated on a fine grater or mashed with a fork.

Step 4.

Lay out the layers. First, half the potatoes - mayonnaise - a little onion - herring - mayonnaise - carrots - the rest of the potatoes - mayonnaise - olives - apple - egg - beets - mayonnaise - generously decorate with pomegranate.

Step 5.

Place in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours. Then you can serve it on the table.

From one more interesting option how to serve herring salad under a fur coat in small portions. This will especially appeal to those who really love rolls. The recipe itself does not change much, the form and method of serving changes significantly.

Ingredients:

  1. Herring - 1 piece;
  2. Potatoes - 1-2 pcs (depending on size);
  3. Carrots - 1-2 pcs (depending on size);
  4. Beets - 1-2 pcs (depending on size);
  5. Onion - 1 piece;
  6. Noria seaweed - 2 sheets;
  7. Hard cheese - 1 tablespoon;
  8. Vinegar, preferably balsamic;
  9. Mayonnaise.

We start as usual: boil the vegetables. When ready, cool and clean. Grate the vegetables on a coarse grater.

We clean the herring. Leave the fillet boneless. Cut into longitudinal strips. By the way, you can already buy ready fillet.

Cut the onion into half rings. Then pour boiling water over it, drain the water and fill it with vinegar.

Now it is advisable to use a bamboo mat. We put a sheet of noria on it. Rough side up. Place grated beets on it, then carrots and grease with mayonnaise.

Now add cheese and potatoes. Compact and grease with mayonnaise. Squeeze the onion and place it on the potatoes.

Step 6.

Place a strip of herring approximately in the middle of the sheet. Now carefully roll the roll. It should be dense, so it is better to use a bamboo mat. You can also use cling film.
