Shelf life

IN vivo colonies of bees harvest bee bread all season and store until the beginning of the new season of honey collection and flowering of pollen to feed the brood.

In hermetically sealed with wax combs, in a sterile environment provided with honey, storage is possible for at least a year. At the same time, temperature, lack of direct light and air access, and humidity play an important role.

Granules or powder

It is most convenient to take perga in a dry form. Often it is sold in granules: small hexagonal cylinders removed from the honeycombs and carefully dried. In addition, for greater convenience, the dried granules are crushed to a powder state and in this form are packaged in very small doses.

Powder or granules must be stored in an opaque sealed container with the possibility of complete isolation from such external factors:

  1. High humidity. Prolonged contact with air with a humidity of more than 15% provokes an increase in bacterial activity and, as a result, bee bread can become moldy and begin to decompose, because it contains a lot of protein.
  2. Ultraviolet. All bee products have a feature - with prolonged exposure to sunlight, they lose all their useful properties.
  3. Products with a strong aroma. When dry, it very quickly absorbs odors from the external environment.

For attractiveness, pre-dried granules are poured with honey and sold in this form.

Such a remedy at home should not be stored for more than a year, provided that the quality of the components was appropriate: if the honey was immature or the bee bread was not dried out, the composition would quickly lose its beneficial properties and ferment within two to three months. Therefore, immediately after the acquisition, it is better for her to allocate a permanent place in the refrigerator and periodically check if the appearance of the perga has changed.

Honeycombs with honey

Most natural way storage. In this form, all active ingredients and active compounds are preserved with natural ingredients: wax and honey.

This is how the vitamin complex and mineral composition can last up to two and a half years. Of course, the activity of enzymes and organic acids will decrease during this time to a minimum level, but other properties will remain.

For this pieces of honeycomb:

  • placed in a small container with dark opaque walls;
  • poured with honey;
  • carefully sealed to maximum tightness;
  • placed in the refrigerator.

The volume of dishes must be selected so as to use as much as required for one course of treatment. It is not advisable to expose the entire volume of bee bread to a constant change of conditions and violation of tightness. After using one jar, you can open the second and so on.

Honeycombs with bee bread are quite difficult to pack, they have a fragile structure and therefore they can rarely be found on sale. Most often, honeycombs are ground to a paste, mixed with honey and sold in this form.

At home, this is an essential remedy: it will help with sore throat, stomatitis, and mechanical damage to the skin. To use the biological potential for at least a year, it must be properly stored. This will provide:

  1. Sealed dishes are one of the main conditions, if there is free access to air, oxidation processes will begin in the paste.
  2. Compliance with the humidity regime. With an increase of more than 15%, the mass may ferment, become moldy.
  3. Temperature regime - no more than 12 degrees, but not lower than 0 degrees. An increase will provoke the growth and reproduction of bacteria.

Storage conditions

To summarize, no matter in what form the perga is purchased, for its storage it is enough to follow a few recommendations that are common for almost all beekeeping products, namely:

  1. Sealed packaging. Under natural conditions, bees do not allow air masses to come into contact with bee bread. At home, care must be taken to close the container with a tight-fitting lid.
  2. Temperature regime. For all forms of bee bread, except for dry, the temperature should be kept within the range from 0 to 12 degrees. In this regard, a refrigerator or a dry cellar is best suited.
  3. Air humidity. Dry bee-bread in granules or powder is especially demanding: at a moisture content of more than 15%, the healing agent cakes, becomes moldy and, as a result, becomes unacceptable for use.
  4. Dark room or opaque dishes: if you do not prevent exposure to ultraviolet radiation on bee bread, all useful properties will disappear.
  5. Storage in small portions. In order not to spoil the product purchased in in large numbers, it is better to divide it into parts and use as needed.
