Cake decorating workshops. Cake "Box with a bottle

beautiful cake can be given not only to children and women, but men are also happy with such a gift.
A very popular cake design for a man is "Gift Cognac Set".
We present to your attention a master class of this cake.

1. We find a bottle suitable for our idea, it can be: cognac, vodka, tequila, beer ....

2. For covering, gelatin mastic was used with a small addition of marshmallow mastic with chocolate. We roll it out, powder it well and cover our (previously washed) bottle. Cut off the excess with a pizza roller, you can cut it with scissors.

3. To more accurately align the cut, you can stand the bottle upright and go around the edge with a pizza cutter.

4. Leave the mastic on the bottle to dry. In 2 hours, the gelatin mastic dries well enough so that it can be safely removed from the bottle.

5. These are the bottles you can make. One bottle of mastic without dyes, gelatin mastic + dark chocolate choco mastic. In the 2nd version, red and brown paints were added, resulting in a bottle similar to a natural clay wine bottle.

6. We paint. To do this, dilute gel paints with vodka, brown + red, and paint the bottle with a sponge.

7. We draw a template for our label, and then cut it out of the mastic. Tip: it is better to first make an inscription on a paper blank in order to calculate the size of the letters and the location of our planned inscription. With the same paint that was used to paint the bottle, we will make an inscription and shade it with a golden kandurin. We put a cork on top, notches on it can be made with an ordinary toothpick.

A few notes. The bottle after coating with paint shines perfectly, it is almost indistinguishable from real glass, but happiness does not last long and after about 12 hours, the paint dries, absorbs and the bottle becomes dull. frosted glass too a good option, but if you need to achieve exactly the effect of "glossy glass", you can cover the decor bottle with gel.
Covering the bottle with a second layer of paint, in the hope that the second layer will not soak into the mastic so much and remain pleasing with its gloss, does not give the desired result. So, if you don’t have a gel decor, the bottle will come out of frosted glass, fortunately, these also happen!

8. We take a suitable glass, if there is no cognac, you can take an ordinary one, remembering old films, it should be noted that we often drank cognac from such glasses with a high stem. We do with the glass all the same operations as with the bottle. In this set, let it not be glass, let it be richer: a glass of pure gold! (Perhaps you can experiment with caramel, but we will postpone this until next time.)

9. Decorate to your taste.

10. We make a cake of the desired size and shape. We align the sides well, from above you can not achieve ideality, since this is not required. We take measurements and cut out the corresponding walls for the box. Mastic 50% gelatin, 50% chocolate marmysh.

11. After the walls have dried for literally 15-20 minutes, make scratches with a toothpick to simulate wood and attach the walls to the cake. In this cake, a mahogany box, to match the golden glass. To imitate varnished wood, you need to walk on the mastic with a sponge dipped in vodka. Due to the fact that the mastic was 50 to 50, the varnish retained its shine.

12. We make paper templates for the "metal" corners to hide the seams. Tip: do not cut 4 at once, but after making one, while the mastic is still soft, immediately glue it on the corner of the cake, and give it a sharp shape. Glue the corners to the cake one by one, make rivets and cover with gold or bronze kandurin.

13. In the cakes, it was possible to make recesses for a bottle and a glass to drown them a little. Or you can just cover the edges of the bottle and glass with a “cloth”. Where the bottle will lie, it is better not to make folds, so that later they do not interfere with laying our bottle and glass evenly. This box is made from a real prototype. In the box I saw was a silk, scarlet-burgundy fabric. I really wanted to achieve the same color, of course, I didn’t quite succeed, but it’s very similar. Color the mastic immediately in the desired color, lay it on the cake, form folds and also tint the “fabric” on top (in this case: scarlet paint + vodka + burgundy kandurin).

And the actual result.
