Tomato sauce in a slow cooker. Fresh tomato sauce in a slow cooker - serve with any dishes

Potatoes and meat are the favorite food of many people. And although everyone knows that this combination of products is not the most useful and may not have a very good effect on the volume of the waist and hips, it is still tasty and nutritious. Potato sauce is especially popular among the people, the traditional recipe of which is very simple, even those who usually go to the kitchen only for lunch or dinner can cook it. And you can feed the whole family or a large group of guests.

Potato sauce is a home-style roast or stew made from meat and potatoes, always of a liquid consistency, hence the name. Gravy is obtained as much in volume as solid ingredients, it should be rich, fragrant and tasty. It is in it the whole essence of the dish.

At the same time, meat, potatoes and other vegetables that are used for cooking should not fall apart and turn into an incomprehensible, little appetizing and tasteless mass.

This sauce is borrowed from Hungarian cuisine, in this country the recipe is necessarily complemented by sweet and juicy bell pepper, which gives the dish freshness and piquancy, making it more healthy. We like to cook potato sauce with chicken for every day, and also with mushrooms - for a special occasion.

You can actually use any meat to make a delicious, hearty potato sauce - chicken, goose, duck, pork, beef, or even rabbit. In the classic version, it is cooked in a cauldron on the stove, bringing it to full readiness in the oven or oven. But for modern housewives, who are engaged not only in the kitchen, but also in their personal affairs, family, career, a recipe in a slow cooker is more suitable.

What products are needed for potato sauce in a slow cooker

This recipe is a classic, the main ingredients of which are chicken and potatoes. To prepare such a sauce in a slow cooker, you will need:

  • Chicken - 500 gr., legs or wings are better;
  • Potatoes - 1000 gr.;
  • Onion - 1 piece, white or red;
  • Carrot - 1 piece of medium size;
  • Garlic - 1-2 cloves (who loves, this ingredient is optional);
  • Bay leaf - 1-2 pieces;
  • Vegetable oil - 1-2 tablespoons;
  • Salt and pepper;
  • Fresh greens.

The quantity can be increased or decreased depending on the volume of the multicooker bowl and the number of people who need to be tasty and healthy to feed - after all, in a multicooker all dishes are less high-calorie, but more nutritious than in a pan or in a regular saucepan.

Sauce recipe in a slow cooker step by step

  1. Meat preparation. Wash and dry the legs or wings, divide into 2-3 parts - this way they will cook faster, and the dish will be more convenient to eat. But if you have time, you can leave small shins or wings intact.
  2. Preparing vegetables. Peel potatoes, wash, leave in cold water so that they do not darken. Peel onions, carrots and garlic. Wash and dry greens.
  3. Cut potatoes into slices. Small tubers - into four parts, medium and large - into 6-8 parts. Cut the onion into half rings, quarters or cubes - as you like. Grate carrots or cut into thin strips. Finely chop the garlic and herbs separately.
  4. Turn on the multicooker to the “fry” or “bake” mode (depending on the model). This cooking recipe consists of two stages, first the meat will be fried, then the whole dish will be stewed.
  5. Pour oil into the multicooker bowl, let it heat up, lower the meat and fry for 10 minutes. Turn the meat over once.
  6. Add vegetables in layers - first onions and garlic, then carrots, then potatoes. Salt and pepper, put bay leaf.
  7. Pour water or broth - you need one liter. Close the lid and turn on the “simmer” mode for 40 minutes.

Forty minutes later, the potato dish with chicken in the slow cooker is ready. It is better to serve it in deep bowls, pots or bowls so that the meat and vegetables are completely covered with gravy. On top, you can put a spoonful of sour cream and sprinkle with chopped herbs.

How to diversify the recipe

In principle, this recipe can be changed at will as you like, depending on the mood and the availability of products. For example:

  1. Use pork instead of chicken. This Hungarian recipe also includes 2 garden peppers and 2 tomatoes. They are cut into pieces and laid along with all the vegetables. But you need to cook the dish not for 40 minutes, but for at least an hour, since the pork is denser and it will take longer to become soft and tender. But in the end you get a very fragrant, vitamin-rich dish.
  2. If you want to add mushrooms, then it is best to take fresh oyster mushrooms or champignons. They are cut into slices and laid along with onions and carrots.
  3. Instead of water, you can fill the dish with broth. Some people like it if tomato paste diluted with water, mayonnaise or sour cream is used for pouring.
  4. If there is no meat, but there are smoked meats, sausages, brisket - for example, after a party or a festive feast - you can also use them to make potato sauce. In this case, the dish in the slow cooker will be ready in 30 minutes.
  5. Vegetarians should also indulge in a rich, thick potato sauce in a slow cooker. To prepare a vegetarian sauce, in this case, the meat must be completely removed, and any varieties of cabbage, celery or zucchini should be added to the vegetables.
