Soups for a 1 year old child. Soups for children

After a year, the baby’s digestive ability increases significantly, and the stomach microflora stabilizes by this time. Therefore, the diet is significantly expanded, soup and broth are added to the menu. Soups and broths are real sources of energy, vitamins and nutrients.

They stimulate the secretion of digestive juices, which ensure normal digestion of main courses. But the expansion of the diet should proceed smoothly and carefully. In this article we will find out what foods children at this age can eat. Let's look at recipes for making soups for children under 1 year of age and older.

Nutrition rules for a child 1-2 years old

  • The baby's diet includes five meals a day, the most satisfying is lunch; breakfast and dinner should be a little lighter and approximately equal in calorie content;
  • Fish and meat dishes should be given in the first half of the day, and dairy, vegetable and cereal dishes - in the second;
  • Feed your baby freshly prepared food rather than preparing it the day before. During storage, food loses its beneficial properties;
  • The volume of one serving of food for a child 1-2 years old is 300 grams. At the same time, the norm of soup for a child under two years old is 120 ml, at the age of two or three years – 150 ml, for children over three years old, the portion increases to 180-200 ml;
  • Do not force your child to eat if he... The baby must get hungry himself;
  • Do not teach children to eat while watching TV or playing;
  • Give your child warm food, especially soups. Too hot food can burn the stomach, and cold food loses vitamins and beneficial elements;
  • When cooking, do not use hot herbs and spices, do not add sauces. You can add salt, black pepper, sugar in small quantities;
  • Cook over low heat to retain as much vitamins as possible;
  • Do not use processed foods, smoked meats or other similar products. Read more about what children under three years old should not eat.

What soups are suitable for a child?

Soups are prepared on the basis of vegetable, meat and fish broths. In addition, there are dairy and cereal dishes, soups with liquid and puree (creamy) consistency. Pediatricians do not recommend giving soups to babies under 12 months. But if the baby adapts well to adult food, or he was bottle-fed, this dish can be introduced into complementary foods at 10-11 months.

A soup recipe for a one-year-old child should be simple. This should be a low-fat dish that is easy to digest. It’s better to start with vegetable soup in cream or puree form. The first recipe for children under one year old contains no more than two ingredients, and you need to choose vegetables that have already been introduced into the baby’s diet. Potatoes, cauliflower, zucchini, broccoli and pumpkin are perfect; a little later you can add carrots, onions, peas, tomatoes and herbs.

Vegetable soups are rich in vitamins and plant fibers, beneficial minerals and organic acids. This composition ensures the full growth and proper development of the baby. At first, to prepare such a dish, vegetables are ground to a puree consistency and diluted with water. After a year, you can start cooking liquid soups with already chopped, rather than pureed vegetables. In addition, they are starting to give vegetable broths.

After a year, milk soups are included in the diet. The recipe for this soup includes cereals or pasta. This food is rich in vegetable proteins, vitamins and mineral salts, starch. At the beginning of introducing milk soup into the baby’s diet, the ingredients are first boiled until tender in water and then poured with boiling milk. At first, it is better to dilute milk by half with water, and after two years they completely switch to milk. Cook it the same way.

It is better not to give broths containing meat or fish to children under three years of age. When cooking meat or fish, extractive substances are formed that irritate the intestines and cause stomach upsets. In this case, meat or fish can be cooked separately and then added to the vegetable broth. Below we offer soup recipes for children aged 1 to 2 years.

How to cook soup correctly

The composition of vegetable soup starts with two ingredients and gradually expands to seven. Place vegetables so that they cook for approximately the same amount of time. Boil the vegetables until soft and add salt to the finished dish. At first, prepare puree soups, gradually switch to a more liquid composition and whole pieces of vegetables.

Preparing meat soup begins with boiling the meat. The meat is poured with water and brought to a boil. Afterwards the water is drained, the meat is washed and fresh water is added. The product is cooked until cooked. For children, it is better to take beef without streaks and fat, chicken or turkey fillet, and rabbit. The finished meat is cut into small pieces and added to the vegetable broth.

If you cook soup with meat broth, then add a whole onion and chopped carrots to the water while cooking the meat. Half an hour after the start of cooking, add potatoes or cereals, an hour after the start of cooking - other vegetables (tomatoes, zucchini, cabbage, etc.). Ten minutes before the soup is ready, remove the onion from the soup and add chopped greens.

We are almost a year old now, we have divided the menu into first and second. We eat cutlets and vegetable purees with a bang, but the soups go back to the bib.

I searched on the Internet, here are the recipes I found, maybe someone else will need them too. We will try.

Milk soup with noodles

My mother made this soup for me as a child, and I simply adored it! To tell the truth, I still won’t give up on it. My daughter really liked the soup. This is very important for me, because milk has so many benefits, and Alyonka does not drink milk in its pure form, only in cereals. Perhaps because she is still breastfed, I don’t know. But this soup really helped us out.

Compound:

1 table spoon with a heap of small vermicelli

200 ml milk

a little sugar (to taste)

5 g butter

Preparation

1. Pour vermicelli into boiling water and cook until half cooked (I cooked for 5 minutes)

2. Drain the water, pour hot milk over the noodles, add sugar and cook until tender (another 4-5 minutes, but it all depends on the noodles)

3. Add butter before removing from heat.

Bon appetit!

“Spring” soup with cauliflower

The benefits of cauliflower are obvious - it contains vitamins such as C, B, PP, A, as well as acids, microelements, proteins, fats and carbohydrates. You can make a variety of dishes from cauliflower, but today we are making soup.

Compound:

for broth - 100 g chicken fillet

for soup - 1 potato

several cauliflower florets

half a sweet pepper

1 table spoon of small vermicelli

greenery

1. Cook the chicken fillet in enough water until cooked, 20-25 minutes. We take out the fillet, pour in 50 ml of broth and set it aside (we will need it to prepare the chicken soufflé - see the following recipe).

2. Add peeled and cut into pieces potatoes and cauliflower inflorescences into the remaining broth. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

3. Then add the noodles and sweet pepper cut into pieces. Cook for about 7 more minutes.

4. A couple of minutes before readiness, add the greens.

Bon appetit.

Tip: if there is not enough broth, you can add boiled water.

Soup puree “Tenderness”

Puree soups, like regular soups, are very beneficial for baby’s digestion. The only difference is that pureed soups can be given to the little ones, because they have no pieces, which means they don’t need to chew anything. Ingredients:

1 cup cauliflower

½ cup zucchini

1 boiled egg yolk

1 tablespoon butter

3 glasses of water

Preparation

1. Separate the cauliflower into florets. Peel the zucchini and cut into cubes. If the zucchini is old, remove the seeds.

2. Place the zucchini and cauliflower in boiling water and cook until tender for 10-15 minutes. Then drain the vegetable broth into a separate bowl.

3. Rub hot vegetables through a sieve or grind in a blender. Season with butter. For children older than one year, you can add a little salt.

4. Add a little broth to the vegetables. I don’t indicate the amount of broth, see for yourself what consistency of soup you want to get.

5. Bring to a boil. Garnish the finished soup with finely grated egg yolk.

Potato soup with celery

After winter, the child’s body especially needs vitamins. Celery is rich in vitamins and minerals, but it is especially rich in vitamin C, which will help strengthen the immune system and increase resistance to colds. Celery is also a source of fiber, which has a beneficial effect on intestinal microflora and eliminates the tendency to constipation. But this vegetable also has contraindications: it is not recommended for children under 1.5 years old, nursing mothers and women after 6 months of pregnancy, as it can cause excessive gas formation.

Compound:

2 stalks of celery

Soup with chicken hearts

Katerina's recipe from the site "".

Cooked for the first time chicken heart soup. I really wanted to come up with something unusual. The result was a very tasty, satisfying and attractive soup with chicken hearts. In my family, offal dishes are welcome. And it seems to me that these are underpriced products. In terms of nutritional value, they are not inferior to meat. Chicken hearts contain a lot of iron, protein, essential amino acids, B and PP vitamins, and enzymes. Chicken hearts contain a lot of potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium, which are necessary for the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system and for the development of a growing organism. Therefore, it is very useful for children to include chicken hearts in their diet. Also in the composition of the hearts are copper compounds, which are important for the synthesis of hemoglobin and the healthy functioning of the nervous system. But chicken hearts contain cholesterol, so older people should be careful in consuming them.

Ingredients

  • 200gr. chicken hearts;
  • 1 potato;
  • 3 tbsp. spoons of rice;
  • 3 tbsp. spoons of fresh frozen peas;
  • onions, carrots, garlic, herbs.

Preparation

  1. Rinse the hearts and cut them in half;
  2. Bring 1.5 liters of water to a boil and cook the hearts in it for 30 minutes;
  3. While the hearts are boiling, grate the carrots and potatoes on a coarse grater, finely chop the onion and chop the garlic;
  4. Add carrots and onions to the hearts and continue to simmer for 5 minutes;
  5. Then add rice and potatoes, cook for 10 minutes;
  6. And the last ingredients of the soup will be green peas, garlic, herbs and salt.
  7. Cook the soup for another 10 minutes.

The soup with hearts turns out to be very rich and beautiful; a child will definitely try this soup.

Cauliflower soup with cheese

Katerina's recipe from the site "".

I'm sure many children don't really like cauliflower, and it is very useful for the human body. It contains a lot of nutrients. It contains calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and mineral salts. It contains 2 times more iron than green peas. It also contains a lot of fiber and rare sugars, which help improve intestinal function. The proteins contained in cauliflower are 1.5 times greater than in white cabbage. It also contains folic, malic, pantothenic and citric acids. I'm cooking for my daughter cream soup and it’s tasty, and simple, and healthy, and most importantly, the child gets all the benefits of cauliflower without even knowing that it is present in the soup.

What do you need:
2 potatoes;
300gr. cauliflower;
½ onion;
½ medium carrot;
100 ml goat milk;
goat cheese;
herbs and salt to taste.

What to do:
Pour finely chopped onion, grated carrots, and finely chopped potatoes into boiling water. Cook until the potatoes are half cooked. Then add cauliflower, disassembled into inflorescences, salt, add herbs and cook for 10 minutes. Then pour part of the broth into a mug and add milk to the pan, let it simmer for 5-7 minutes. Add some of the broth from the pan to the broth in the mug. Now you can beat the resulting soup with a blender. If the puree soup turns out to be thick, add ready-made broth from a mug until the desired thickness of your puree soup is obtained.
Serve the soup sprinkled with grated goat cheese, you can add cornbread cut into cubes. Serve the remaining broth as a separate dish with corn or rice bread.

I'm sure your baby will appreciate these simple soups! Bon appetit!

Until six months, the baby does not need any additional food except human milk, but when the baby turns 6 months old, doctors recommend starting to feed the baby with vegetable purees or cereals. Further, the dishes on the little one’s table become more and more varied. Soups also appear among them. But in order for them to be absorbed without problems and bring only benefits to the baby’s body, it is important to know which of them are allowed in the diet of children under one year old and when they can be boiled in broth.

At what age can you cook?

On average, infants are ready to try soups at the age of 9 months or 10 months, but you should focus on the individual development of the baby. Some infants can be given such dishes at 8 months, while others refuse them until they are a year old.

If a child is mixed or bottle-fed, soup may appear on his menu a little earlier - from 6-7 months. It is offered to children under one year old at lunchtime feeding in a volume of up to 150 ml. After a year, the portion increases to 200-250 ml.

Complementary feeding with soups begins at 8 months of age.

Benefit

  • Replenishes water reserves and also acts as a source of various nutrients, including easily digestible proteins, minerals, fiber and vitamins.
  • Stimulates digestion, in particular, this dish activates the secretion of digestive juices, which is why it is called “first”.
  • Such first courses are predominantly dietary dishes that can be consumed if you are overweight.

Soup is good for children as an additional source of liquid and useful elements.

What are they?

Depending on the base and components, the following types of soups are found on the children's menu:

  • Vegetables. This is the first soup for a child under one year old, which is cooked exclusively from vegetables. For very small children, it is prepared in the form of a puree soup, grinding all the ingredients until a homogeneous semi-liquid mass is obtained. For children over 1 year old, vegetables are boiled in pieces so that the baby learns to chew. Vegetable first courses made from pumpkin, broccoli, and cauliflower are especially popular.
  • Dairy. Their boiled ingredients, for example, vermicelli or cereal, are poured with boiling milk (until the age of two, milk is diluted by half with water). This soup is rich in proteins, starch and vitamins, it is quite filling and many children like it.
  • Cereals or pasta. This dish is quite filling and gives the child a lot of carbohydrates, vegetable proteins and B vitamins. For children, rice or buckwheat soup is most often cooked, adding vegetables to such cereals.
  • From legumes. For children under one year old, you can prepare puree soup from green peas or green beans. Also, young beans and peas can be added in small quantities to vegetable first courses. Dry pea soup appears in the diet of children aged 3 years and older.
  • Cheese. This dish can be prepared with water, vegetable or chicken broth. Its ingredients are often vegetables and boiled chicken, but the main highlight is cheese. A small amount of grated hard cheese is added to it at the end of cooking and wait until the cheese melts. This gives the dish a special taste and delicate texture. Cheese first courses are recommended for children over one year of age, but processed cheese should not be added to them until the age of 3.

  • With meat. Puree boiled meat is added to children's vegetable puree soups from the moment meat complementary foods are introduced. For children over 10 months old, you can add a little broth to vegetable soups, and it is recommended to cook them in meat broth from the age of one. For a 2-year-old child, the meat in them may already be small pieces. Such dishes are often cooked from rabbit or beef. Soups with meatballs are also popular for children over 1.5 years old.
  • Chicken. For children under one year old, this dish is prepared with the addition of lean chicken meat, after which everything is crushed to obtain a puree. For babies over one year old, they begin to cook soup in chicken broth, for which lean chicken is used. From the age of 1.5 years, children begin to be offered first courses with chicken meatballs, and from the age of 3 they can cook them using a whole chicken. They are no less tasty from turkey.
  • Fishy. This version of the first course is introduced into the children's diet from 1 year. First, they use river fish, thoroughly pitted. It is boiled separately and then added to soup with vegetables or grains at the end of cooking to make a puree soup. A little later, you can treat your child to soup with fish balls, cooked separately, and you can also start cooking the soup in a weak fish broth.
  • Mushrooms. They are quite difficult to digest, so they are not recommended for preschool children. Also, soups that should not be tried at an early age include rassolnik, solyanka and kharcho. They should be included in children's diets no earlier than 3 years of age.

How to cook properly

In order for the soup to be healthy for the child, it is important to take into account the following principles when preparing it:

  1. Cook them for kids only from those products that the child has already tried. If you want to add a new ingredient that has not yet been introduced into complementary foods, it should be the only new component of the dish, presented in a very small amount, for example, 1 spoon of broth.
  2. Use special purified water intended for children (bottled) for cooking. For small children, you should not cook soup with tap water, even if it has been boiled.
  3. When choosing vegetables, make sure they are fresh. It is unacceptable to use damaged, overripe or rotten vegetables to feed children. Before cooking, all vegetables should be thoroughly washed, then peeled and cut into not too small pieces (with strong chopping, the beneficial substances are destroyed faster). Vegetables should not be roasted during cooking until they are 3 years old.
  4. If you are going to cook soup with meat for your child, this product should have a minimum of fat. When cooking broth, it is recommended to use a second or third water (drain the first water after boiling and fill the meat with clean water).
  5. Children should be fed only fresh soup, so do not cook too large a portion. Do not give a small child food that has been stored in the refrigerator for more than a day.
  6. To better preserve valuable compounds in foods, do not cook them for too long. High heat is only permissible to bring water or broth to a boil, after which heating should be minimal.
  7. Until the age of three, it is recommended to avoid strong meat, fish or chicken broth. Also, bouillon cubes should not be used for children's first courses.
  8. You can add a little vegetable or butter and yolk to the finished dish. From one year onwards, soup for a child can be sprinkled with chopped herbs.
  9. If the child does not refuse unsalted soup, it is not necessary to add salt. The less salt there is in dishes for children under 3 years old, the better. However, if the child categorically refuses to eat bland soup, a small amount of salt is acceptable.

Soups for children should always be freshly prepared, low-fat and low-salted.

Recipes

From zucchini

Take 100 g of vegetable, wash thoroughly, remove seeds and peel, and then cut into small pieces. Boil the zucchini until tender and while still hot, pass through a sieve or grind in a blender. Dilute the puree with the broth and bring to a boil, and then add a piece of butter or mashed quail egg yolk to the soup.

From rabbit

Wash and then cut 100 g of rabbit meat into pieces, then boil until tender. Next, peel and cut the potatoes and any vegetables to taste (cauliflower, zucchini, Brussels sprouts, green beans, carrots and others in a total volume of about a handful). Boil the vegetables in water until soft, add the boiled rabbit meat and puree in a blender until it becomes a semi-liquid puree.

From fruits

Take one apple, one peach and 3 apricots, peel the fruit and remove the seeds. Boil them in a small amount of water until soft, then drain using a sieve. Add a teaspoon of semolina to the fruit puree, boil for 3 minutes, then add the mashed yolk and 100 ml of milk into the soup, stirring the dish continuously. When it boils, immediately remove the dish from the heat. You can give it to your child either warm or chilled.

For children over one year old

Borsch

This dish in its children's version can be cooked only from vegetables, with the addition of boiled meat or in meat broth. You can prepare borscht either on the stove or in a slow cooker. Take beets, carrots, onions, tomatoes, several potatoes and 100 g of shredded cabbage for the dish. After washing all the vegetables, peeling and chopping them, place them in boiling water, taking into account the duration of their heat treatment.

First boil the potatoes and onions, then the grated carrots and beets, and at the end add the cabbage and chopped peeled tomato. Add salt and herbs to the dish to your taste. If the child is already 2 years old, borscht can be seasoned with low-fat sour cream.

With vermicelli and chicken meatballs

For this nutritious soup, take an onion, a carrot and 2 potatoes. Chop the vegetables and boil in slightly salted water for 10-20 minutes. Next, add minced chicken meatballs mixed with egg and salt to the boiling dish. After 5 minutes, add vermicelli to the dish. Cook until all ingredients are ready, and sprinkle with chopped herbs before serving.

Pumpkin with semolina

Peel and grate the pumpkin, and then boil it until half cooked. Add half a glass of milk and a teaspoon of semolina to the soup. Boil the ingredients until tender, remove from heat and pass through a sieve. Dilute everything with boiled water, add a teaspoon of sugar and boil the dish for about 3 minutes. Season the finished dish with butter.

Soups are the main national feature of Russian cuisine. Introducing soup into a baby’s diet, as a rule, begins at 6 months, after the child has tried vegetable purees, compotes and porridges. However, it should be remembered that soup for a one-year-old child is significantly different from the soup that mom and dad are used to eating for lunch.

The first and most important rule for preparing the first soup for children under one year old: the use of meat and fish broths is excluded, the soup must be prepared in water. Secondly, the soup prepared for today’s lunch should not be used tomorrow, that is, each time mom will have to cook one serving of soup.

Soup for a six-month-old baby will be similar to the already familiar vegetable puree, only a little more liquid. Potatoes, zucchini, carrots or cauliflower should first be boiled in water until tender, and then chopped in a blender or mashed well with a fork. Dilute the resulting vegetable puree with vegetable broth until smooth (approximately to the consistency of kefir). The first soups for babies should consist of one component.

For older children (from 8 months), you can no longer grind vegetables to a puree consistency, but cut them into small pieces, so your child will learn to chew. Unlike the first soups, these dishes can consist of several components (vegetables), and also include meat, cooked separately and then chopped in a blender (veal, turkey, chicken).

Soups with meat broth can be included in the diet of a baby from 10 to 11 months in very small portions (about 30 ml), since meat broth is still too heavy food for babies. Also, closer to the year, you can add a little pasta to soups.

How to cook soup for a child?

  1. It is best to simmer the broth for soup over low heat under a lid.
  2. Vegetables should be placed in boiling water, taking into account the cooking time of each component. This way, more vitamins will be retained in boiled vegetables.
  3. You need to add salt to the soup at the end of cooking.
  4. When preparing soup for a one-year-old child, you should not use bouillon cubes, hot herbs and spices, garlic and bay leaves.
  5. Freshly prepared soup is best eaten immediately. When reheated, the nutrients in the soup become less.
  6. Meat broth for “children’s” soup should not be too concentrated. During the process of cooking meat, the water must be drained several times. Also, you should not cook soup from bones; it is better to take lean meats (chicken, turkey, veal).
